AKWA IBOM COMMUNITY IN NORTH WEST -WELFARE PACKAGE POLICY

1.     PURPOSE

This Welfare Package is designed to provide health, wellbeing and in some cases financial support to members of the Akwa Ibom State Community in North West during times of need, celebration, or bereavement, in line with the Community’s aim of promoting unity, care, and mutual assistance to the Ibom community.

2.     ELIGIBILITY

  • Only financial compliance members (those who have paid their registration fees and are up to date with monthly dues) are entitled to apply for financial welfare benefits.
  • Members must have been registered for at least 6 months before becoming eligible for welfare support (except in special cases approved by the Executive Committee).
  • Welfare benefits shall not be granted to members who are under suspension or disciplinary action at the time of the claim.
  • Financial supports are pending executive committee

 

3.     TYPES OF WELFARE SUPPORT:

  • WELLBEING: -Road Walk, Hiking, picnics, sport, games and social
  • MORAL SUPPORT: – Visits, calls and
  • SELF-DEVELOPMENT:- Professional counsel and information, skill acquisition, Consultations, Business Patronage, Job recommendation and referencing where applicable.
  • FINANCIAL: – Money and or

 

IN THE FOLLOWING SCENARIOS OR CASES THE COMMITTEE WOULD:-

  1. Bereavement Loss of a Member: Official condolence visit by Community Public announcement to members and assistance with funeral arrangements as required. Financial approved support from the executive after such member has applied.
    • Immediate Family Member would mean spouse, child, or parent of
  2. Birth of a Child: Official Visit and presentation of financial support by Community
  3. Weddings of a Member: Financial support and Community representation at the
  4. Hospitalization / Serious Illness: One-off financial support token as approved by the executive (depending on the situation) for members hospitalized for more than 7 days or facing serious medical challenges. Community members to offer visits and moral support.
  5. Special Assistance: In cases of extreme hardship through loss of job, house fire, or other emergencies and losses), the Executive Committee may approve a financial support relief payment after the welfare support for self-development has been exhausted.
    • EXAMPLE: In the case of loss of job, the committee would source in-house for alternative employment or openings as well as skills acquisition through paid trainings with certifications.

 

  • In the case of fire or arson consideration for alternative accommodations where the committee would step in to give financial support for rents and any other self- development support as the case maybe.
  • All members are entitled to informative support, consultations and discounted rates on professional services from industry or corporate service/business members.

 

4.     CONDITIONS & LIMITATIONS:

  • Welfare support will only be given if the member is up to date with dues at the time of the
  • A member can only benefit from the same category of welfare once in 12 months, except
  • All payments will be made from the Community Welfare Fund and recorded by the Financial Secretary.
  • In cases where the fund is low, the Executive Committee may recommend voluntary contributions from members.

 

5.     FUNDING THE WELFARE PACKAGE:

  • The Welfare Fund shall be sourced from: Monthly welfare levy from each member (e.g., £5 per month). Donations from members and well-wishers. Fundraising events organized by the Community.

 

6.     ADMINISTRATION:

  • All welfare requests must be submitted to the Welfare Officer or General Secretary in writing or verbally (in emergencies).
  • The Executive Committee will review and approve requests The Treasurer and Financial Secretary will ensure proper disbursement and record keeping.

 

7.     REVIEW OF PACKAGE:

  • This Welfare Package shall be reviewed every two (2) years or as deemed necessary by the General Assembly, taking into account the Community’s financial strength and members’
